Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. Offers Wide Range of Educational, Entertainment Opportunities at NAVC 2017

Company to sponsor general session with “GMA’s” Robin Roberts as well as a unique symposium on understanding diverse client groups

Duluth, GA. – February 1, 2017 – Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. (BIVI), a global leader in the animal health industry, is hosting a wide range of innovative and engaging educational and entertainment events for veterinary professionals during the 2017 North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Fla. Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America” will kick off the 2017 conference with a general session presentation at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, in the Tangerine Ballroom. Roberts will inspire attendees with her personal story of overcoming multiple life-threatening illnesses as well as of her award-winning career as a journalist and athlete. The session is sponsored by BIVI.

“This is an exciting time for our company, and we are pleased to bring Robin Roberts and her remarkable success story to conference attendees,” said Dr. Albrecht Kissel, Country President, U.S. Animal Health Business Unit, Boehringer Ingelheim. “From an educational perspective, BIVI will be hosting two separate events focused on pet owners and feline health. We hope veterinary professionals will join us for a new and exciting look into the wants and needs of their clients as well as the latest insights on advancements in feline chronic care.”
On Monday, February 6, BIVI will present a unique symposium, “CLIENTOLOGYSM: Deliver What Pet Owners Really Want.” The session offers the first look at new research into the minds of today’s pet owners and what drives each of six distinct client groups. The program will feature Guy Smith, former head trainer for Walt Disney World and The Disney Institute, as well as communications expert, Sarah Wooten, DVM.

This lively, engaging session will be presented in a talk show style format and is designed to give attendees easy-to-implement tips and strategies to help better understand and serve their particular client base. Rather than a series of individual sessions, CLIENTOLOGY will be presented once in the morning and again in its entirety in the afternoon of Feb. 6, allowing conference attendees to take in the entire program. The CLIENTOLOGY symposium will be held at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) W222 A/B. The educational opportunity will continue with an interactive experience where veterinary professionals can meet some of the pet owners they might see at their clinics at the BI booth #1839.

BIVI is also presenting the following sessions and events:

Tuesday, February 7: “Beyond Diagnosis: Experts Share Multimodal Approaches to Feline Chronic Care” featuring Audra Fenimore, DVM, MS, DACVIM, discussing a case-based approach to managing feline diabetes; Andrew H. Sparks, BVetMed, PhD, DipECVIM, MANZCVS, MRCVS, on the challenges of managing feline chronic kidney disease patients; and Cynthia R. Ward, VMD, PhD, DACVIM with an update on diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of the hyperthyroid cat. The afternoon will conclude with the panel answering attendee questions moderated by Grant Beckett, DVM, technical manager, BIVI. The session will take place from 1:45 - 4:50 p.m. in OCCC W224 E/F.

Tuesday, February 7: BIVI sponsors the “Today’s Veterinary Practice” Technician’s Lounge, where veterinary technicians can take a break from conference sessions to recharge their phones as well as recharge themselves at the candy station. The Lounge is located in the Exhibit Hall #3139.

Additionally, the company is kicking off Decade of Difference, a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the launch of Vetmedin® (pimobendan). Attendees are invited to stop by the BIVI booth to learn more about the celebration as well as other conference activities and initiatives the company has planned for 2017.
