November 10, 2011/DENVER– Morris Animal Foundation recently received a generous charitable donation from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) to fund future research that advances the study of equine geriatrics. The gift was given in recognition of the 122 horses, owners and investigators who participated in BIVI’s clinical field studies for Prascend®, which was recently awarded approval by the FDA.
Prascend® is indicated for the control of clinical signs associated with pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID) in horses, also known as equine Cushing’s disease.
“Morris Animal Foundation is grateful for this contribution because we believe in providing a healthy future for horses,” said David Haworth, DVM, PhD, CEO/president of Morris Animal Foundation. “Partners like Boehringer Ingelheim will help us fund new science to find preventives, treatments and cures for diseases and health conditions that affect horses.”
In collaboration with veterinary institutions around the world, Morris Animal Foundation’s studies have led to major advances in veterinary care, including vaccines and other preventions, diagnostic tools and new therapies for the diseases and health conditions that threaten the lives of the animals we love. The nonprofit organization is also training the next generation of veterinary scientists through programs that encourage and support aspiring researchers.
