Acepromazine Injection and Tablets are an aid in tranquilization and as a preanesthetic agent in dogs.  
Both can be used as an aid in controlaling intractable animals during examination, treatment, grooming,  x-ray and minor surgical procedures.

Description

Each mL Acepromazine Maleate Injection contains 10 mg acepromazine maleate.


Features

Injection: 10 mg/mL concentration.

Tablets: 10 mg and 25 mg concentrations.

Each tablet quarter-scored.

Rapid action.

Low order of toxicity.

Lowers the dosage requirement of general anesthetics.

Advantages

Acepromazine Maleate Injection and Tablets have low order toxicity, rapid action, and a lack of hypnotic effect sometimes associated with tranquilization.


Dosage & Administration

Injection: Dogs – 0.25 mg up to 0.5 mg per lb of body weight. Administer IV, IM, or Sub-Q.

Tablets: Dogs – 0.25 mg up to 1.0 mg per lb of body weight. Dosage may be repeated as required.


Precautions

Tranquilizers are potent central nervous system depressants, and can cause marked sedation with suppression of the sympathetic nervous system.

Tranquilizers can produce prolonged depression or motor restlessness when given in excessive amounts or when given to sensitive animals.

Tranquilizers are additive in action to the actions of other depressants and will potentiate general anesthesia. See package insert for complete information.

Warning

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on order of a licensed veterinarian. Federal law prohibits the use of this product in animals intended for human consumption. Keep out of reach of children. For use in dogs only.
