ALPHA-7™ Reference Page
Description
Clostridium Chauvoei-Septicum-Novyi-Sordellii-Perfringens Types C & D Bacterin-Toxoid. Alpha-7ô bacterin-toxoid is prepared from chemically inactivated cultures of the above organisms with a special oil adjuvant to maximize immune response. Contains gentamicin as a preservative.
Features
A single dose provides protective levels of immunity.
DD-2ô adjuvant stimulates a high degree and long duration of protection.
Low volume 2 mL dose.
Sub-Q administration.
Benefits
Saves time and labor because fewer injections are necessary.
Eliminates stress of revaccination on cattle.
Meets with NCBA BQA guidelines.
Eliminates edible tissue damage resulting from IM administration.
Advantages
Alpha-7 is the only one dose seven-way clostridia vaccine available. Alpha-7 is safe for use in all cattle.
Dosage & Administration
Using aseptic technique inject a single 2 mL dose Sub-Q. A 2 mL booster dose is recommended annually. Calves vaccinated under 3 months of age should be revaccinated at weaning or at 4 to 6 months of age.
Precautions
Store at 35∞ - 45∞ F (2∞ - 7∞ C). Avoid freezing. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 60 days of slaughter. Swelling at the injection site may occur. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur.
Antidote: Epinephrine.
Uses
Alpha-7 is recommended for vaccination of healthy, susceptible cattle, including bred heifers and lactating beef and dairy cattle, against disease caused by Clostridium chauvoei, Cl septicum, Cl novyi, Cl sordellii, and Cl perfringens Types C and D. Immunity may be provided against the beta and epsilon toxins elaborated by Cl perfringens Type B. This immunity is derived from the combination of Type C (beta) and Type D (epsilon) fractions.
Warning
Animal inoculation only. Accidental injection in humans can cause serious local reactions. Contact a physician immediately if accidental injection occurs.
