Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. Awards Six Fort Dodge Educators the “Innovating for Tomorrow” Scholarship Award

The scholarship honors educators who pursue STEM related professional development opportunities to implement in their classroom

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., (BIVI), is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2015 “Innovating for Tomorrow” scholarship for educators who pursue professional development opportunities to further their skills in the classroom.

Educators in the Fort Dodge Community School District were encouraged to apply for $10,000 worth of scholarship dollars to assist in their professional development in STEM related areas, which include science, technology, engineering and math.

“As we continue to seek readied-workforce individuals to fill positions at BIVI, we look to our local school systems to help prepare our future workforce,” says Dr. Albrecht Kissel, president and CEO of BIVI. “Teachers often do not have the funds available to them to pursue professional development opportunities to further their skills. We want to help teachers implement new ideas in the classroom related to science, technology, engineering and math subjects.

The recipients of the 2015 “Innovating for Tomorrow” scholarship are:

  • Rachel Loots, Butler Elementary School
  • Amy Baker, Butler Elementary School
  • Mariah Lehman, Fort Dodge Community Schools district-wide instructional
  • Birkey, Fort Dodge Senior High School
  • Nicole Ahrens, Fort Dodge Middle School
  • Becky Daniel, Fort Dodge Middle School

Educators in K-12 classrooms, who were employed full-time during the 2014-2015 school year and teach one or more science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) course, were encouraged to apply. To apply for scholarship dollars, these educators were asked to complete a scholarship application and submit a budget for their proposed professional development.

Kissel continues, “Our employees are our greatest asset, and our commitment to our employees makes us a global pharmaceutical leader. We are counting on the incredible educators in the Fort Dodge community to help us with our future workforce and we are committed to supporting the continuing education of teachers in Fort Dodge interested in targeted STEM subject efforts.”
